In common with many leading companies and financial institutions, the NKL has been the subject of scam e-mails designed to defraud the recipients by tricking them into paying money up-front in order to qualify for prizes they have allegedly already won. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to trace the perpetrators of such scams in order to instigate criminal proceedings. Some of these scam e-mails can be extremely convincing so it is important never to lose sight of one simple rule, which applies equally to any lottery or prize draw, including the NKL: if you have not bought and paid for tickets, you have not won a prize. Every single lottery the world over works on the principle that only paid tickets can win prizes. So if ever you should receive an e-mail attempting to convince you otherwise, it is a scam and should be disregarded. |
